How to Grow Your Hair Faster, Longer, and Healthier

Whether you are losing hair or you’re just trying to grow it out, you probably already know how frustrating the process can be. Growing out your hair requires time and patience, but luckily there are many things you can do that have been proven to help with hair growth. Having a regimen that you stick to regularly is very important because consistency will give you quicker and better results.

• To grow your hair, you need to trim it

It might sound confusing to hear that trimming your hair helps it grow, but it’s been proven to make a huge difference. Of course, right after trimming your hair it will be shorter, but once those split ends are gone you will be growing your hair and reducing the breakage that split ends cause. If you’ve had the same length of hair for a long period of time, it’s not because your hair isn’t growing. It’s likely that as your hair grows, the ends break off. Trimming also makes hair look and feel healthier.

• Eat healthier and drink more water

Many of us spend our time and money trying to get healthier hair by using an abundance of different products, but we forget about taking care of our hair from the inside. What we put into our bodies impacts us in many different ways. Simply eating healthier and drinking more water, will improve your hair as well as your skin.

• Reduce your use of heat styling tools

Using heat on your hair at all  is damaging. It can cause split ends and breakage which will likely prevent your hair from growing. Finding alternatives like braiding, ponytails, and buns is a great idea. As well as lessen your use of heated styling tools. Doing so will allow your hair to grow and become healthier.

• Avoid washing your hair daily

Your body’s natural oils help to hydrate and repair your hair, so stripping your hair every day of those oils isn’t as beneficial as washing your hair only two to three times a week instead. Massaging your hair when it’s more oily can help distribute the oils and increase blood flow which also helps with hair growth.

• Take vitamins

Biotin is a vitamin that is found in foods like milk, eggs, and bananas. However, it’s usually a very small amount. Supplement of biotin or any multivitamin that is made to improve your hair, skin, and nails. If you aren’t getting enough biotin in your diet with the foods you eat, then taking a supplement just once a day can drastically speed up your hair growth process while giving you healthier skin and nails at the same time.

• Wash your hair in cool/cold water

Hot water is not only rough on hair, but it’s also not recommended for color-treated hair. Washing your hair in cooler water or finishing with a cold rinse will help preserve your hair color. It will also strengthen your hair while sealing the cuticle.

• Be cautious when brushing wet hair

Wet hair is very fragile and more susceptible to damage. Be sure to untangle your hair gently with your fingers. As this is a much safer way to getting out knots. If using your fingers doesn’t quite cut it, using a wide-toothed comb is another great alternative.
