In turn, Dr. Arthur Zacco will openly and honestly educate you on your individualized treatment options best to reach your personal goals. At AZ Hair Restoration we will use only the best and proven techniques in hair transplantation that produce a natural look that is virtually undetectable. We use an ultra fine follicular unit technique.
When you arrive the morning of the procedure, we make sure that you have eaten a full breakfast and have a ride home after the procedure. Dr. Zacco will give you medication to relax, if you wish we offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas) at no additional cost that produces a comforting and relaxing feeling. In the morning of the procedure you are given oral medication to alleviate minor discomfort and anxiety. Hair transplantation is a relatively safe surgical procedure that is performed in the office. You are fully awake but may nap between lunch and movies.
Dr. Arthur Zacco uses a special technique to give the highest yield of grafts per amount of tissue harvested. After the donor tissue (the back and/or sides of the scalp) is anesthetized and removed, the talented technicians divide the tissue under stereo-microscopes to produce ultra fine follicular unit grafts about 1 mm in diameter and contains 1-5 hairs. While the technicians perform tissue dissection, Dr. Arthur Zacco uses a special technique to suture called a tricophytic closure that will greatly decrease the visibility of the scar. If the hair is worn a minimal length the suture and the scar should not be seen.
If you wish, at his point you may start to watch a movie of your choosing. Then Dr. Zacco produces tiny incisions about 1 mm in diameter in which the grafts will be placed. Careful attention is given to the angle, direction and depth of each. These incisions are designed to cradle the grafts just right; large enough to prevent trauma during placement, but small enough to hold the grafts. The incisions are created to parallel the natural direction of hair growth of your original hair in that area of the scalp.
At this point you will break for a delicious lunch that will be provided while you continue to watch a movie of your choice. After lunch, Dr. Zacco along with some of the best hair transplant surgical technicians in the country will place the grafts in the tiny incisions. Depending on the number of grafts, this process takes 2-4 hours. A special dressing is applied to protect the grafts until Dr. Zacco sees you the next day.
The next day, Dr. Zacco will see you to remove the dressing and wash your hair. He will also make sure all is well and send you home without any dressing. For the next couple of days, you should take it easy.
About ten days after the procedure, you will have the hidden sutures removed. At this point all of the scabs should have fallen out. Within 3 weeks all of the hair in the transplanted grafts will fall out, making way for the new hairs to start growing in 2 or 3 months. The remainder will gradually grow over the next 6-12 months. For no additional cost, Dr. Zacco will see you back at 4-6 months and 8-12 months to follow your progress and compare before ad after pictures. This is a rewarding time for you and AZ Hair Restoration.
